Ross Mead
Ross Mead is the Founder and CEO of Semio AI, and Executive Director of Semio Community. With a Ph.D. in Computer Science from USC, he has dedicated his career to advancing human-robot interaction and making social robotics accessible to researchers, educators, and developers worldwide.

Doug Dooley
Doug Dooley is a character animator and robotics consultant. He spent 13 years at Pixar, contributing to films such as Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Cars 2, and Brave. After earlier work at Blue Sky Studios, he left Pixar in 2013 to focus on making robots feel alive, including working at Willow Garage. He now consults for robotics and animation companies in the Bay Area.

Simon Kim
Simon Kim is a multidisciplinary researcher and designer with dual affiliations at the University of Pennsylvania's Weitzman School of Design and his design practice IK Studio. His work explores the intersection of architecture, robotics, and human-robot interaction, focusing on how robotic systems can be integrated into built environments and everyday spaces.

Bill Smart
Bill Smart is a Professor at Oregon State University, specializing in robotics, machine learning, and human-robot interaction. With decades of experience in the field, he has made significant contributions to mobile robotics, robot learning, and the development of practical robotic systems for real-world applications.


Andy Schoen
Andy Schoen is an interaction designer and frontend developer working at Semio AI. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, working with Dr. Bilge Mutlu on human-robot interaction. His research focused on developing systems for specifying and designing robot behaviors. Andy is passionate about creating intuitive tools that empower users to effectively design and interact with robotic systems.


Chris Birmingham
Chris Birmingham is a human-robot interaction researcher and software engineer at Semio AI. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in March 2023 with a concentration in Socially Assistive Robotics. His dissertation, Multiparty Human-Robot Interaction: Methods For Facilitating Social Support, developed computational models of group dynamics (e.g., turn-taking and trust) and a facilitation framework grounded in empathy and disclosure. Chris builds open-source tools for reproducible HRI, including HCI-FACE (a web-based facial animation and conversation engine) and HARMONI (a ROS-based modular interaction framework). His work spans multimodal perception, time-series modeling for affect recognition, and end-to-end deployment across cloud and robot platforms.

Victor Paléologue
Dr. Victor Paléologue is a Robotic Behavior Systems Expert at Palaio Logic, specializing in software development for robotic applications. With a strong background in Android development and information management, he focuses on creating user-centric applications that enhance human-robot interaction and improve user experience.
